Why are the called love handles, no one even likes them! Luckily for you ladies, if you know what little slip-ups you’re making, you could finally lose some fat off your belly and get smaller hips for good!
Love handles are a lot like that mate you’ve got, that bummer of a friend you’ve been trying to quietly drop for years, and in spite of your best efforts to slough off that dead weight, it clings to you like a baby in Bootle does to a sausage roll from Sayers.
According to some nutritionists: For men, love handles are hard to lose because most of their fat cells are located in this area, whereas women’s bodies like to deposit fat into the hip and thigh area, too, creating the illusion of love handles, When women begin to lose weight, it also happens in other parts of the body first.
While this may sound like a bit of a downer, nothing you can do about your genetics, there are things that will help shrink your hips and dissolve those annoying handles of love forever.
Love handles start and end with food. A personal or work life that is full of stress can lead to higher levels of the cortisol hormone, triggering belly fat storage and can also lead to less than appropriate choices in food. When you are rushing around or stretched to breaking point, making healthy eating choices is difficult and not at the top of your priority list, which, in turn, leads to extra pounds on those handles.
Pump a Little Iron
Cardio can help you use up calories and lose weight, but if you want to trim your hips, you’ll have to pump some iron as well.
Cardio may help to burn calories, but, it won’t necessarily focus on the specific zone you’d like to lose weight from.
You can’t spot reduce, but weight training may help to build lean muscle mass, reducing fat everywhere.
Unwinding With Gin
Relying on alcohol to unwind is not the best. Alcohol has a shitload of calories, two glasses of wine every day will add almost 1500 calories to your weekly intake or ½ lb in weight a week, an increase of 2lbs a month. And if you are one of those girls who have a tendency to add weight to your love handles…
You’re running from meeting to meeting, taking the kids to football, back home to cook the tea, picking the kids back up etc. Well, suck it up buttercup!
You might not able to do anything about the stress in your life, but you have a plan to help you deal with it.
Try this little trick, start your day in quiet. Counterintuitively, get up 20 minutes earlier (it’ll pay off in the end) and sit with a cup of something detox in the dark. Let yourself to wake up gradually and use this time to set the character of the day. DO NOT check your email, FB or Twitter. Take control and be in a stronger position to make healthier decisions throughout the day.
My Body Fat % is too High
If a woman’s body-fat ratio is above 25% the shape of her body may be less than ideal. Now that seems a bit Captain Obvious but if you have too much fat on your frame, it’s going to be tougher to target the fat that’s around your hips.
